About Westside

When people come to Cape May, New Jersey, they are welcomed to a picturesque ocean town that feels as though the decades have skipped. A must stop while in Cape May, is the local favorite Westside Market. This gem is just minutes from the beach on the busy Broadway. You cannot miss the “red” building on the left as you head for the Cape May beaches. Westside separates itself by its amazing customer service, best hoagies, spectacular catering, and the best meats in town.

History of Westside Market and Cape May

Cape May originally was a whaling town in the 1800′s. In the later part of that century, the Westside Market was first constructed and has since gone from a feed outpost, provisions general store, to its current day Catering, Sandwich, Deli and Butcher Market. Westside is one of the few local owned businesses that stays open year around, catering to its foundation customers, locals to Cape May.

So make sure that you stop by the Westside Market the next time you are in Cape May and start a new tradition!

Our Sister Weekend wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t stop by a couple times for an awesome sub and a few groceries. This little store has everything! Subs are the best!

Without a doubt, the very best South Jersey style Philly Cheesesteak Hoagie, ever. I was out of the area for nearly 20 years and Westside Market was my first destination, and after the first bite my husband finally understood what hoagie heaven is. The roll is perfect, the meat is excellent quality and the melted cheese and veggies are perfect. Make sure to get pickles. Stephanie and the hoagie Gods made us two perfect cheesesteaks and after the first bite I ran back to tell the grill master that I needed another. Skip the chains, and make sure to go in through West Cape May. They have a few tables, so the hoagies can be enjoyed right away, but I personally love to have them 24 hours later so the flavors can blend. I am taking as many back as I can fit in the car. For about $7 it’s the very best meal you can have at the shore.

When I was pregnant with my son I had dreams of these hoagies, they are that good. If I was in town, I would have one nearly every day. It’s a long time tradition and they are only getting better. If only they did delivery in NY.

Real meat, real butcher, Westside Market has it. No prepackage precut take what we have meats here. Westside Market is that good old home town market that puts that personal touch into everything they do. A real butcher that cuts your choice of meat the way you want it cut. Steaks as thin or as thick as you want them, trimmed to perfection. Good luck getting this service in any super market. If you’re unsure of what cut of meat will best suit your needs the butchers at Westside Market will help you select the perfect cut. Outstanding service, outstanding knowledgeable butchers and the best cuts of meat I ever had. Westside Market is my one and only premium barbeque destination. The prefect cut of meat makes the prefect meal and Westside Market has the best.

Outstanding friendly service. Being new to area my son needed to find a butcher for is job. Not only did he find one but they went out of their way to order special items for him and had them back in plenty of time! The meat case is fantastic. Looking forward to trying one of their sandwiches and shop for myself! One stop here is not enough.
